Discovery Class had a brilliant day at Hengistbury Head on Wednesday 10th July. We spent some time identifying the features of the estuary. As the tide was in and had covered the mudflats we could not see them, we enjoyed observing the wading birds walking around on the mudflats just below the water. We saw the plants growing in the saltmarsh and reed beds. We walked along the path to see the lagoon and then onto Mudeford Spit seeing where the River Stour meets the sea. We had a few minutes to play on the sand before walking back to have our picnic. On the way back we saw a lizard with and injured tail. Pupils were able to share their knowledge that a lizard can regrow its tail. We then headed on to the beach again to paddle in the waves and play on the sand, we all really enjoyed our time.
