We were very lucky to have a visit from Ben Maxfield, a helicopter pilot. Even better, Ben brought his helicopter and landed on the school field for his visit. The boys were all able to sit in the helicopter and Ben was very generous with his time in explaining the helicopter and how it worked. The boys asked great questions about what sort of jobs Ben did, how all the controls worked and how to ‘become a pilot’. Ben was able to tell the boys a little about his work with the Air Ambulance service and Mountain Rescue in Wales, as well as commercial work. You can see from some of the photos how enthusiastic, interested and engaged the boys were.
Ben was very complimentary about the boys, and said he would be happy to return at some point.
We would all like to thank Ben for an excellent, informative and exciting visit.
